For many hard years, a man and woman have struggled to survive in a barren and lonely wilderness. Each night, the man tells the story of their lost home, forever promising that it is over the next horizon. When the couple stumbles upon the ruins of a vanished society, they find food and shelter—the comforts of civilization. The woman wants to push on toward home, but the man reveals that “home” was just a story—a lie to keep them going. As this lie escalates tensions between the couple, they separately encounter a silent and immobile stranger deep within the buildings, who has a compelling, sinister appeal for each of them...
